Nobody’s Album a found-film archive

rescued from the dollar box

The photographs nobody kept.

Old negatives and slides, rescued from estate sales and other forgotten corners — scanned, catalogued, and set down here so the people in them are not forgotten.

About the archive

what this is

Nobody’s Album is a home for found film — boxes of negatives and carousels of slides that outlive the people who made them. Most turn up at estate sales for a dollar, after the families who should have kept them did not. Others arrive by other roads.

Each collection is one life, or one family, seen through their own camera — road trips and riverbanks, Christmas mornings, friends, and the cats that wander through the frame. The first follows a young couple, John and Carolyn, and their circle, beginning in the spring of 1971. More are on the way. Every frame is scanned as found, named from the writing on its envelope, and preserved so that a stranger — or, one day, a descendant — can see them again.

Nothing here is for sale. If you recognise your family, any image can be removed, no questions asked.
